My first ever article was a pithy men’s fashion blog. If I remember right, that particular Rosetta Stone was published a year later after the editor-in-chief cut and remastered half of the article. But he left one part untouched. The section where I pulled out ‘embarrassing bulky bifolds’. That was over a decade ago and behemoth leather wallets were starting to show signs of decay in the world of fashion. Since then, neo philosophy of minimalism has entered and redesigned all things, including our wallets. Ridge and
GRID were the first to take the stronghold. Their ultra-minimalist slim wallets were barely bigger than an Amex and yet it had the biggest impact on wallet redesign in modern times. Within a couple of years, slim wallets of all shapes and sizes flooded the market. Slim wallets became a trend. Metal wallets became a cult.
Fashion Redesigned. Top 3 Men’s Slim Wallets.
So, to write an unbiased article (if that’s even possible) on the best men’s slim wallets, I called up some of my colleagues and after many coffees and heated debates, came up with this list. Note that the rundown is in no particular order.
Here’s a minimalist wallet for men that got featured in Rolling Stones magazine, and for good reasons. The designers did something ‘simply’ beautiful with a wallet that resembles more like a front pocket leather pouch with a touch of 19th century French. The wallet screams 80s ‘Hollywood macho and is crafted beautifully to fit most pants and more pockets. We say it’s a must-go with denim and flannel shirts.
The top spot went to GRID and Ridge (in our opinion) for their ultra-slim metal wallets. It’s hard to separate these two that literally reimagined the wallet space. Credit where due, Ridge was the first to successfully launch a new type of metal wallet. GRID on the other hand pulled an Apple and redefined the original with a polished finish and ergonomic features. Both offer metal wallets of outstanding quality and craftsmanship. The ruthlessly minimalist style offers a tank-solid metal wallet that oozes elegance. Hands down these are the best slim wallets the urban men in smart-casuals and suits.
Tanner's pushes the edge of minimalism with this front pocket slim wallet built with classy tooling leather construction. At only 4X3 inches, it surprisingly offers enough room for several cards and even cash. We loved it. Sometimes quality and simplicity speak volumes.
This is the wallet for those who like rugged, spend time in the wild, and love to face survival situations. It’s an improvised copy of GRID wallets and marketed as more of an EDC. So, this will fit a niche but might not be for the city boys who frequent cocktail bars in suits. However, if you're into the life of fishing, hunting, and camping, this is the wallet to check out. A fashionable rugged look is accompanied by a solid build that can weather harsh outdoors.
